Another Death? Director General Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Sister E Passes Away (Photo)

The south-eastern part of Nigeria has lost a rare gem in the field of broadcasting which has attracted the attention of the Imo state government.

The Imo State Government with a heart filled with deep sorrow hereby announces the painful demise of the Director General of the IBC, Mrs. Esther Obong Egbuna, popularly known as Sister E, until her death was one of the reputed figures in the journalistic industry.

Sister E rose to the heights in IBC from the low rungs of the ladder in the corporation. She was a lady of humility, industry, unrelenting good aspirations, a lady with a large and broad heart full of human compassion and empathy, she will forever remain unforgettable in the annals of the IBC. She piloted the affairs of the IBC orient FM/TV to the extent that the laurels that came to IBC as the clearest voice East of the Niger knew have no limits.

Sister E brought a new vision, mission and direction to the broadcasting service of the IBC. In her tenure, IBC had a new and unprecedented image as a broadcasting house. She passionately redefined dedication to duty and service to government and the people.

Her painful demise on the 10th of June, 2016 was confirmed with uncontrollable tears by the family members. She was survived by a son, brothers, sisters and an aged mother.

The Imo State Govt acknowledges that a perennial vacuum has been created in the family, a vacuum has also been created in the IBC and the broadcasting world is left dumbfounded. A gem and a broadcasting icon is gone. Govt cannot fully console the family she left behind. However, God knows best and has His reasons for every action. We are therefore consoled that God will give the family she left behind the grace and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss in their lives.

The State Govt also uses this medium to console the entire IBC staff and family on the sudden demise of their beloved Director General. Also the IBC staff are admonished to keep up with the pace and good works she had set and left behind in good faith. They should be unrelenting in their prayers for the successful repose of her soul.

Imo State Govt on behalf of all Imolites and other fans of Mrs Esther Obong Egbuna across the action therefore wish to use this medium to commiserate with the entire Egbuna and Obong families on this sorrowful demise of their daughter, wife and mother. We also pray to the Almighty God to grant her soul a peaceful and eternal rest.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
