Police Arrest Traditional Ruler, School Staff Over Ebonyi Students Death

The Ebonyi
Police Command has commenced investigations into the mysterious death of two
junior secondary school JSS III students of the Federal Government College,
Okposi, in Ohaozara council Area of Ebonyi State.
Reports
gathered that the command arrested school staff and a traditional ruler of the
community who is also facing interrogation at the Police Command headquarters
in Abakaliki.
The
students, Tochukwu Eneh, and Chukwuemeka Ugwu were kidnapped on Thursday, May
12th, 2016 around the school, ten days after, their decomposing bodies were
later found floating in a local river on Sunday, May 22nd, 2016.
In a
statement, the police spokesman, ASP George Okafor, said that following the
report made to the police, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Peace Ibekwe
Abdallah, led other senior police officers with the SARS team on the ground for
on the spot operational assessment.
The PPRO
disclosed that the dead bodies of the students were discovered at a bamboo
grove in ATA River, about half a kilometer from the college premises.
Reports
gathered that before the two students were murdered no attempt was made by the
suspected kidnappers to reach the boys’ parents for any ransom.
